2001 Young Environment Envoys Program

2001 Program

Hosted and coordinated by the
University of Wollongong

The Young Environment Envoys Program was initiated in 1998 under the auspice of the United Nations Environment Programme Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific in partnership with the University of Wollongong, Environment Australia and QANTAS.

Given the current level of public concern, there is no doubt that in this new millennium, environmental issues will dominate both private and public sector agendas. The primary objective of the Program is to identify future leaders in environmental protection and sustainable management of natural resources in the various regions of Asia, the Pacific and Australia. The Program will also provide an opportunity for young environmentalists to exchange experiences and views on environmental protection with Australian experts and other tertiary students in Australia. A unique opportunity will be provided for all involved to make valuable new contacts in this dynamic region.
